Packaging Design

Insights, trends, and project breakdowns focused on creating packaging that’s as strategic as it is beautiful.

Life Balance That I Do

Last Tuesday, I realized something troubling: my sourdough starter gets fed more consistently than I do.

It has a strict schedule.

It takes weekends off.

It even has a cozy spot by the window with better natural light than my desk.

Meanwhile, I’m eating cereal for dinner and wondering where my life went wrong.

The Wake-Up Call

It started innocently enough. I named him Bob. Big mistake. Once you name something, you’re emotionally invested.

Now Bob gets fed every 12 hours like clockwork. Me? I’ve eaten stale crackers for lunch three days in a row because I “didn’t have time” to make a sandwich.

Bob’s Impressive Routine

Bob has structure. Bob has boundaries. Bob knows when to rest and when to work.

Morning Rituals

Every morning at 8 AM, Bob gets his breakfast. Fresh flour, filtered water, a gentle stir. He bubbles happily in his jar, living his best life.

Bob’s morning routine includes:

  • Precisely measured ingredients (no “eyeballing it” for Bob)
  • A consistent feeding schedule (no snooze button excuses)
  • Proper temperature control (he gets the warm spot, I get the drafty corner)

I, on the other hand, frantically gulp lukewarm coffee while simultaneously answering emails and looking for my other shoe.

The Evening Wind-Down

Bob goes to sleep at 8 PM. Lights out. No screens. Just peaceful fermentation.

I’m still staring at my laptop at midnight, doom-scrolling and eating cheese directly from the fridge like some sort of feral goblin.

What I’ve Learned

Maybe Bob is onto something. Maybe the secret to a well-balanced life is being a blob of fermented flour that lives in a jar and has no responsibilities.

Or maybe I just need to set some boundaries. Either way, Bob’s judging me from the counter, and honestly? He’s not wrong.
